Father God,

Today, I pray for those who are experiencing the pain of this fallen world in their bodies. Though there are non-physical forms of pain, I pray now for those whose bodies are poking, prodding, even screaming at them through physical pain.

For so many, they cannot escape the constant presence of pain interfering with every aspect of life. For others, it may be pain that only arises randomly and catches them off guard. Either way, it is a reminder of the effects of the Fall on the world in which we live.

I pray for those whose pain has continued for weeks or months or even years. I pray that Your Hand would touch and relieve and remove the suffering. I pray that You would heal the dysfunction of their bodies underneath the pain.

For those whose pain continues, I pray for You to sustain them in their daily walk. For those who need wisdom to guide them regarding pain, how to relieve it or how to live with it, I pray that You would reveal that to them.

For those around the one who sufferers, send them to comfort, to support, to be Your hands and feet in loving one another. Draw Your children together to love one another well as we all walk through this world of brokenness looking forward to an eternity when pain will be no more.

Father God,

Today, I pray for the next generation who are rising up in this day seeking godly spouses from the masses of foolishness and immaturity. I pray that You would be discipling the next generation through godly older men and women such that they would be ready to build godly families.

I pray that You would equip those discipling with wisdom and clarity to convey their teaching. I pray that You would put a desire for such discipling on the next generation. I pray that we would see a coming restoration of a society led by Your children which restores the biblical values of family and fellowship.

I pray that You would have godly spouses prepared for those seeking such a lifelong walk together of glorifying You.

Father God,

Today, I pray for Your Word to silence the foolish, to reveal the foolishness of those who refuse to submit to Your Word, and to guide those who love Your Word. Grant us the wisdom and strength to handle the Word in such a way that we can be Your witness to the world around us. Give us courage to stand on that Truth regardless of what the world says or does.

Enable us to speak Truth in all aspects of our daily life. Lead us by Your Word that we might be light and salt to those around us. Guard us from compromise, from slipping into falsehood, from being deceived by those who distort Your Word little by little.

Let us cherish it as the precious gift that it is.

Father God,

Today, I pray for those who are crying out in the night for insight and understanding to guide them in their dark path. We all walk through dark seasons where our earthly sight and understanding do not provide the light we need. During those times we recognize our need for Your daily bread in terms of wisdom even more acutely though in truth, we need Your light in every season of life.

Your Word promises wisdom to those who seek You for it. Your Word tells us to pray for all things. Your Word tells us to pray without ceasing. Your Word tells us to persist in prayer in faith believing that our Heavenly Father will give us bread rather than a stone.

For those in such a dark season, when the daily need for wisdom is the most pressing, speak into our lives with light making clear our steps and making clear Your path for us to follow to the green pastures of Your provision.

Father God,

Today, I pray for the hands of evil to be revealed where they are coming against Your people so that we can pray to You for deliverance from those persecutions whether they are of human or demonic origin. I pray for eyes illumined by the Spirit to discern the spirits, to discern the times, to discern the work of Your Hand in our lives.

As You open our eyes to the realities of the times in which we live, also affirm in our spirits Your promises to care for Your children through the storms. Give our feeble hearts the courage to rest in Your power, Your promises, Your timing, Your wisdom.

And then, flood the darkness with Your light such that it loses all power to harm us. As Jesus touched the leper and drove away the leprosy completely, drive back all that comes against us from the enemy’s schemes. Emmanuel, come and deliver.

Father God,

Today, I pray for the provision of sleep and rest for Your children in spite of the storms and trials of life which so often steal and threaten those times of refreshing rest. We walk through days filled with one challenge to peace after another. We are dependent on You to press peace into our thoughts and feelings even while we are awake and commanded to fear not.

Then we lay down at night and there are no more activities to distract such that our thoughts and concerns begin to flood in. In those times when the lights are off and our head lies upon the pillow, we need Your Spirit to work out faith that You will provide even as we sleep.

So often, when we try harder to sleep in peace, we lie awake struggling to find the peace that leads to peaceful sleep. We pray that You would cause Your peace to rest upon us such that our sleep turns from something we dread trying to do into something that we are refreshed by. Drive back the voices of the enemy which try to insert themselves into our nights. Drive back our own heart struggles which try to scream at us in the night.

Give Your children refreshing sleep by the power of Your Spirit working in our spirits.

Father God,

Today, I pray for meat, not earthly meat on which our teeth chew, but for spiritual meat on which our souls must chew into understanding. I also pray that You would make Your people able to chew upon the meat of the Word that You provide. I pray that we as Your children would be able to feast and grow and bear fruit from that spiritual meat.

Cause us to walk in the ways of spiritual milk that ready us for the meat of becoming more and more Christ-like. Remove from us besetting sins, compromises, deceptions, self-justifications, and anything that hinders our chewing of spiritual meat.

Then let that spiritual meat give strength to our spiritual frames such that we can be conquerors over the fiery arrows, over the storms, over the persecutions, over the spiritual attacks seen and unseen. Give us the strength in Christ to tear down the gates of hell and set captives free from the enemy’s darkness. Cause us to press into the Word holding no part of our lives back from its instruction and submission.

Father God,

Today, I pray for a right understanding of how to fight against the spiritual attacks of the enemy. So many means of resistance are promoted which contradict one another, which either make it seem so complex or so simple, which either make it into nothing or into everything. We walk about in this world pushing back against powers and principalities, tearing down strongholds, tearing down gates, defending against fiery arrows, so its reality is undeniable.

Make us to understand Ephesian’s armor of God as we gird ourselves for the battle. Make us to understand the power of prayer when Satan’s storm comes against us. Strengthen our mustard seed of faith when the waves rise against us and pound us over and over. Make our feet to stand firmly on the rock of our salvation when the floods come rushing.

Then, Lord, drive back the spiritual attacks, extinguish the arrows, shine light into their shadows, silence the deceiving voices, and lift us up from the mire. Put an end to the influence and oppression that threatens to undo us. Give us the victory that only Your Spirit can do through the prayers of the saints.

Father God,

Today, I pray for the broken hearted who struggle to hear Your promises of answered prayers. So many have been through so much and prayed so many times and still wait for answers. Their hearts burn holding on to faith. Their eyes sting from the tears. Their knees and arms ache from the ongoing pleas. Hear the cries for relief. Grant them eyes of hope and faith to see that You will complete in them what You started.

I pray that You would guide them on when to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord versus when they are to move forward following their Shepherd towards the green pastures. I pray that You would sustain them during the dark nights of their souls and catch their tears in a bottle. Guard the hairs on their heads and use the curses of the enemy for their blessing and provision.

Have mercy on us all that we might be found a faithful servant, willing to trust our heavenly Father to give us good gifts even when we have waited for so long for those answers to our hearts most longed for prayers.

Father God,

Today, I pray that we would find assurance that the promises of Isaiah 54:11-15 continue for us today in the promises of Matthew 7:9-11. Though Israel was afflicted and storm-tossed, You promised to set their stones in antimony and lay their foundations with sapphires. Even that was not enough as the following verses add promise upon promise. Then in Matthew 7 we hear simply how much more that our Father in heaven will give good gifts to those who ask Him.

Enable us to ask You today for all our needs so that we can rest in the steadfast truthworthiness of our Lord and see Your Hand deliver us and provide for us. Turn every thought of need into a prayer to the throne of grace. Turn every provision and deliverance into a praise of thanksgiving to our gracious Father.

Move mountains into the sea for the sake of Your children today and give us the peace that transcends all understanding both before and after we receive the answers to our soul’s prayers.
