Adrift in Today's Rejection of God, Seeking Shepherds
.
Why?
Turning our Backs on God
We live in a society and culture which not only turns its back on God and His ways, but increasingly goes further and hates anything that reflects God in the world. While the devil has been constantly active in this effort since the Garden, in our present day we face a growing intensity and brazenness of those who follow him in rebellion against God. Those of us who hold on to the God of the Bible face increasing pressure to conform or face being ostracized and ridiculed or worse. The more Christian tolerant culture of recent decades is fading.
Floating Adrift in Chaos
Sadly, we float adrift in this chaotic rejection of God and hatred of His children with fewer and fewer Godly leaders, men and women of faith grounded in Scripture and capable of applying Scripture courageously. We look around for shepherds, but find more wolves and pied pipers than Godly leaders who are unashamed of simple Bible truths. Foundations of a Bible faith are daily cast aside for the sake of cultural acceptance, social justice, pietism, and comfort. Foolishness parades about claiming wisdom and honor while the foundations of society crumble.
Crumbling Culture
Current American culture, initially built upon Christian foundations is actively crumbling as it replaces those foundations with more and more humanistic principles. The world is systematically removing the foundational vestiges of a Godly culture, leaving nothing to support the weight of contemporary cultures, institutions, and governments built on the original Christian foundations. A great need for a rebuilding of the walls of a Godly kingdom is present and growing, a kingdom not of this world’s methods as some may seek (through politics and force). It must be born out of heavenly principles yet also one which functions in this world. God’s kingdom may not originate in this world’s principles, but it stands firmly in this world changing all around it with its living water, salt, and light, while tearing down the gates of Hell itself.
Kingdom Built on Truth
Such a kingdom must be built on a foundation of truth, worked out in the practical aspects in the whole of life, directing our thoughts and feelings towards God’s ways, and effectively gathering God’s remnant together under these Biblical foundational truths. For this mission and this vision we launched this site and this work:
Mission:
Equip God’s kingdom children so they may live whole lives together in the midst of a fallen world fulfilling Colossians 3:23 in all of life // in the whole of their lives
Vision:
A growing body of faithful Christians, gathered and equipped with God’s Truth to stand faithfully in the times in which we live.
Welcome to the “Doc-sy” series, as in OrthoDOXY (right doctrine), where you will find short essays aimed at truth, especially truths pertaining to whole person health. These essays arise from the life of a “Doc” practicing medicine while also leading my own family through a crazy world. [...]
Welcome to the “Prac-sy” series, where you will find short essays aimed at living out truth in applying it, in other words the “Prac-tical” side. These essays arise from practice of life in our fallen world and the practice of medicine with chronically ill patients living through major health storms. This endeavor exceeds the capacity for this one post to cover or to even introduce adequately. [...}
We live life deeper than physical reality as we are more than the sum of our physical parts. More than just the biochemical synthesis of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and minerals, we are thinking and feeling beings. We possess heads that think, remember, reason, and choose. We have hearts, or spirits, that feel and sense beyond the physical. Theologians and philosophers debate
We were created for relationship. Though man may live alone on an island, we are not made to be a lone island. It was not good for Adam to be alone (Genesis) so Go provided Eve and He visited them in the garden. We naturally, by design, gather with others for many reasons. This gathering can bless or can curse depending on with whom we gather and how it is done as well as for what purpose. [...]
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for menColossians 3:23 (ESV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.Romans 1:16 (ESV)
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.2 Timothy 3:14-15 (ESV)
