Father God,

Today, I pray against the blind watchmen of our day, who are like those of Isaiah 55:10’s day. The leaders of our land are called to have knowledge, to guard the people, yet as Isaiah says, they are without such knowledge, they are silent in the face of evil, they do not bark, but instead love to slumber except when their appetite drives them to their own satisfactions.

We have such men in both our civil and our church leadership positions who turn to their own gain filling their own stomachs rather than honoring You or serving the people You have placed under their care. We have them as leaders because we too often are the “them” from which they came and the ones who put “them” in their positions. We, the people, are guilty of following such leaders and empowering them with our support.

Forgive us for our iniquities. Deliver us from the judgment that flows from the hand of such leaders. Send true watchmen who seek not their own glory and let us honor them with our support. Send true watchmen who speak Your Truth in all areas of life.

In Christ’s Name,

Amen.
